Question Buying a replica luxury watch

So...after seeing an Omega today (I think it was some kind of 'Seamaster') I wouldn't mind having one because it looks good. I don't fancy spending £1.5k so I am interested in getting a fake.

Where can I get some good fakes from - I am willing to depart with the maximum I'd spend for a 'solid' watch (£100?), but it's important that this watch doesn't fall apart or have shoddy engineering.

I've had a look on the net and all companies seem to be based in the states - I'd prefer something local. Experiences and recommendations welcome.

Thanks.

Is this really true? I've read some people's lasting years.

However, if the really are unreliable in quality (despite claims of fine Japanese engineering) then I will defect to the sensible highstreet brands (read 'Argos' or 'H. Sammuel') or just stick to my G-shock.

Thailand is good for 'replicas' (cough, fakes)

they're great quality - we were there two years ago and the ones we bought are working fine, worn every day since (Cartier which is admired by friends with Cartiers, cost £15 vs £3000, Breitling, Rolex) - no silver plating rubbing off or anything, all look great.

I have never understood why people pay sooooo much for a brand when they don't have to......

The old man has a fake Rolex. And without doubt it's one of the best fakes I have ever seen.

It may as well be a Rolex considering what work has gone into making the thing. It has mechanical self winding movement, has the correct weight and detailing - especially on the crown and face. The case and strap is quite thickly plated for a fake - in other words the gold doesn't rub off! The only thing that let it down was the clasp on the strap where the gold wore off. Which has since been re-plated to a better standard down the Jewelry quarter.

Think it was about £60. Many a comment has been past about how good it is for a fake - and has fooled quite a few self proclaimed "experts" , normally you can tell a fake a mile off, but with this you do need to look two or three times or have to be an expert or Rolex buff to know it's fake at first sight.

Hunt around, good ones do exist. Just avoid ones that use quartz movement, where the real deal would be swiss mechanical (sweeping hand).

Good point - are these fakes waterproof? Don't fancy a flaking watch after washing the dishes!

I was waiting on that one, you wouldn't be making jokes if one of your relatives or loved ones had been one of the 60K ppls that have died so far. the sad smiley does not cover the bad taste or grammar.

So, by buying a fake, evidently because of the way it looks, you are subscribing to the epitomy of Chavdom that you complained about on your previous thread

Clearly this one is way over your head. Chavdom is spending an overwhelming majority of your hard earned on something that can be bought for much less and does the same thing (if at all needed in the first place). I am working on a £100 budget whilst getting the admirable looks an Omega has to offer.

Now back to your corner with the cap on.

Next, why don't you get a Mk2 MR2 bodykitted up to look like a Ferrari F355? It must be just as good, because with some work on the boost pressure you can make it go just as fast as a Ferrari.

This is an utterly stupid thing to say and no doubt highlights your mental (in)capability. We are talking about telling the time. Now do you think a genuine Rolex will tell the time quicker than a fake Rolex?

emmm i think the point is that you aspire to own a real omega and want people to think you do, yet you own a fake!

if you have a £100 budget, go buy something genuine for £100. if you want a £1000 watch, go buy a £1000 watch.

Your comparison is as stupid as asking whether a bodykitted Mk1 MR2 tells the time better than an F355. FWIW I wouldn't buy either for the accuracy of their clocks

Well from the other half of this corner you obviously have far greater experience of chavdom than we do so enjoy it

Arrow Experience and recommendations

They are a waste of time, for me. Seriously consider what you are buying. I have had 3 fake Rolex watches from Thailand when I was living there. Crap quality and every day I wore one, I always had the nagging thought I was being cheated. Also remember that some fakes are produced by big illegal gangs whose activities are funded through ventures like fakes.

IMHO save up and get the real deal.

If you look or dress like a chav chances are 99% of ppl will think your watch is a fake
If you drive a bently dress in a suit all day then 100% will think your wach is real
