Angry My R/C Flying club has been closed..:(

well, what a cr4p end to the year.
finally at the age of 36, managed to save up for a r/c helicopter and have just discovered that my local club has failed various saftey checks and is to be prohibited flying activities.

the flying site is perfect, away from houses, with just a few ramblers and horse riders at risk (no bad thing i hear you say)

anyway the stuffy old codgers have ruined my chrimbo.

anyone want to buy a Helicopter ???

Must be another one close by, or start one up with members from the old club.
Hope it works out.

r32, yes there are a few clubs about, but this one was the amalgamation of 2 other clubs and over its 40 odd year lifespan has grown some real "characters" of which out of sheer stubbornish, will probably jack the sport in.
This is the real shame as some of the older members actually "live" for the club, and the modelling that goes with it.

I personally can fly at any club, but its like a real clicky hobby and some other club members can be downright rude if they dislike anything about anyone.

As with anything, safety is paramount, but i think this club has had one accident in 40 years, where a flyer actually flew into himself (which could have happened anywhere).

Theres a big meeting with officials in the new year, so maybe a resolve can be made.

fingers crossed.

If not, the neighbours will be getting their hedges cut for free !!!!!!!!!!

how much you want just joking, im sure there will be a resolve out of it. theres usually a way around these things similar happened to my club, it was re-named new chairman etc, and problems resolved. pslewis would be perfect for you he wants to get into the sport and he knows EVERYTHING (or so he says )

j4mou, that cheered me up mate, PS lewis wouldn't be able to get the batteries round the right way, let alone fly anything.

i think the BMFA restrict over 100's to rubber band powered models anyway...

The one Im a member of was having problems with noise, a guy from the council turn up with a 'noise level machine' because there had been complaints.
The fact that we flew mostly over the Mersey and there wasnt a house within a mile or so radius didnt interest him.

Dont fly anymore though, too many crashes, too many rules, too many ********* (me being one of them).

If I feel the urge I fly on my mates farm, no rules, just a laugh.

2 X WOT4, 1 X ACROWOT, 1 X CLASSIC, total build time about four weeks @ 4 hours a night.

Each one took seconds to destroy , although I did have many flying hours with them.

But once they go in, they are bin bagged.

Never used to have that sort of problem whem I was competing in R/C aerobatics. We made sure we were covered with adequate insurance which was not expensive and did our flying away from the general public.

Looks like the Nanny State has got into this now!
