Speeding ticket problem!
Morning all, what a lovley xmas pressie, just got a NIP through for doing 50 in a 40
Problem is that I thought the ticket had to be issued within 14 days of the offence? This one was over 5 weeks ago
Realy would love to wriggle out of this one as I have managed to accumilate 9 points already this year (dont ask, just seems like the coppers have got it in for me this year )..... and adding this further 3 will surley get me banned?
Any advice?

Has to be issued within 14 days and 1st class post as a minimum, on the registered keeper. If you're not registered keeper you may be out of luck.
Looks like you may be facing 6 months ban otherwise.

Was it a company car? If so they would have sent to the company first, got told you were the keeper, then sent it to you. So as long as it was sent out to the company (registered keeper) within 14 days you're knobbled.
If it is your car and the NIP is dated 5 weeks after the offense then you can tell them to 'go away' .... If it arrived 5 weeks after the offense but is dated correctly then you can probably still tell them to go away. A neighbour did this - but that was about the time of the Oxford postal strike.
But go to pepipoo and read at your leisure .....

The 14 day rule only applies if you are the registered keeper.
Check the date on the NIP and also the date on th PostMark on the envelope.
They're allowed a couple of days for it to get through the postal system.

Tis true sir, must be delivered within 14 days from date of postmark, otherwise it's invalid, at least the postal service is good for something
plus after 5 weeks you may have forgot who was driving the car (assuming pic was from the back that is)

If you have other friends or family on the insurance, who have a clean licence, you could ask them very nicely to take the hit for you, my friend did this in exactly the same position last year. Big favour!!!

Simply reply that you can't remember now as it was so long ago. I told them that I was on medication which caused memory loss and therefore I was not able to remember. After various correspondence they dropped it and just gave me a stern warning to drive more carefully in future. Result!

Sorry to hear that mate...
However, I always thought that if I was in the position of having 12 points I would still be able to drive.. but if I got 13 points then it would be a ban.
Was I wrong??
Cheers,
Grant
