Community Support Officers get more powers

I used to see lots of these CSO's around Westminster. Personally I would rather see 1 extra copper than 3 CSO's on the streets. There is no substitute for the training and office of authority that a "proper" police officer gets.
I'm sure many CSO's are worthy people, but I can't help thinking there will be lots of power crazy tossers, who couldn't get in the Police, amongst their ranks.

PCSO's only have a power to hold a person for 30 minutes and they wait for a Police officer to turn up and take over.
They do serve a purpose and are a help but I can see them getting into difficult situations they arn't equiped to handle

My concerns parallel those of Jerome.
We've got phone lines where you can grass up your neighbours.
We've got cameras to take your photo when you offend.
We've got a system to track the movements of your car.
We've got ID cards to track your movements.
We've got laws where if you don't admit to the crime you are charged with a more serious offence.
Now we've got the Hitler Youth on the streets with ever increasing powers and access to information about who you are, where you go, what you believe and what you are likely to have done. I can't help but conclude that in a society where you are not allowed to sing Christmas Carols that refer to "Merry Gentlemen" for PC reasons that this is all about to go rather sour.
