Angry Well, THANKS a lot ORANGE SHOP!!!

My daughter has bought a Motorola V500 from The Orange Shop and its faulty (she can't hear anyone on the phone, but can on speakerfone) - ok, said The Orange Shop, when she went in to sort it out - we will send it back for you ............. that will be £30!!! WTF??????

Big daddy went in and the price dropped to £7:99 - still WTF???

Do DIXONS charge you anything to return a TV, Video, Vacuum, so why would there be a requirement to pay for a faulty phone???

I'm not sure of the legal situation but I want to tell the smirking little sh1te what to do with his £7:99 AND make them take the phone back and fix it!!!

Any help out there??

By the way - HAPPY XMAS EVERYONE!!

Pete

Pete,

I had the same problem on a v600 and if you take it to a Motorola Service Centre they will get it sorted free of charge, can take 14 days though.

phone Orange and tell them it's faulty, they (I think) will do next day courier and send a replacement out. That's what happens on my contract anyway.

Hope this helps

Surely this fall under the sales of goods act (?) about the product not being fit for purpose etc.

You have to hold it up next to your ear when not on speakerphone mode

The 30quid fee is normal if the phone is out of its warranty, however if its in warranty it should be free to get repaired, however most places dont offer a temp phone whilst yours get repaired

If it is brand new, and doesn't work properly, then they need to replace it. Forget repairs, they have to replace it with one that works, the phrase 'fit for purpose' is the main thing, they owe her a working phone.

Talk to the manager, make a fuss, make sure everyone in the shop can hear

Its 8 months old - but now she tells me she has been suffering this problem for ages!

Still, surely they should just take it and fix it? I said that I expect NOT to pay a penny as my contract is with THEM not Motorola - they should just put it right!? The lad just stood there smiling .... quite why he isn't spending Xmas in hospital is a mystery!

Anyway, I need hard facts to go in with and create a stink!

Not sure about PAYG, but I used to work for Orange PAYM.

If a phone was sold without the customer taking up Orange Care ( their £5.00 a month insurance product), if it was faulty within the first 28 days, the customer was entitled to a brand new replacmement from where the phone was originally bought. After 28 days and up to 6 months, the customer would get a refurbished phone sent next day delivery if it was diagnosed faulty by their faults system. Anything after 6 months, and the customer would have to return to where they purchased the phone and at their cost have it sent off to the phone manufacturer for repair.

If the customer had Orange Care insurance, there were covered as above but not just for 6 months, but for the duration of them paying the insurance, so, subject to a fault being diagnosed a refirbished replacement would be issued. The insurance also covered you for lost stolen and damaged phones.

I'm sure PAYG will be something similar.

So based on Oramges policy, you have the option to pay the Orange store to send it off for you or find your nearest Motorola service centre for a cheaper option as your still covered by their warranty until the phone is 12 months old.

regards

Stu

Thanks Ian - I've looked there, none in the vicinity of me!

Stu - thanks, but my whole point is that surely Orange would be reimbursed the £7:99 from Motorola? or have jiffy bags and a pre-paid to send back?

I need someone to tell me whether I am entitled to a FREE repair? Legally?

Cheers me dears!

the 7.99 charge is for a 2 day turn around other wise its free and about 5-10 days at their trs repair centre, Oranne dont make or repir the phones and the shop only send it to trs.

but if you ring motorla tell then the fault, and still have the reciept then they will send you a pre paid jiffy bag to send it back and they will repair it and upgrade the software too

Hope that helps.

aaron, thanks - the Orange Shop guy said that Motorola USED to do that (send out a jiffy bag) but stopped it!

And, anyway - he said, you want to send it registered mail which will cost you

I object strongly to paying ANYTHING as its a faulty phone and should be fixed free!

Trying not to get too mad as its Xmas!!

Thought a man of your waffle Píssy wouldn't have a problem getting it replaced.

Maybe they should have a new tariff just for you?

All talk and no action tariff!

Pete,

It would be fixed for free if you take it to a repair centre, think of it as a RTB (Return to Base) warranty on a PC, you would be liable for any costs incurred for shipping the computer to/from the supplier, but once it was with them they would complete the work free of charge.

Ian- If you are a soft touch then of course you'd be liable for return costs. However if you had any substance at all, you wouldn't.

Pissys substance is as thick as his name, unless of course it's behind a keyboard.

Why isn't there one in the Newbury/Basingstoke/Reading triangle?????? Amazing!

I am a 'high useage' customer of Oranges and if I ask them I can pretty much get what I want out of them, got a new phone to replace my v600 when this fault developed, my bills over the past few months have averaged something like £600 a month but I have now changed to one of their new tarrifs which should lower that average down to about £150.

Ian- It was a general statement just replying to your comment.

In your case it doesn't apply, your spending power dictates you get the service.

Pissys bravado and bóllocks often spouted on here should have got him shares in Orange on complaining.

First his car service fiasco, now the phone.

Perhaps next time something occurs he should go armed with his mouse!!

I just scrolled through it too Pete

Take the phone in there, they will send it off to be sorted, my v600 took about 10 days to come back.
