Default Rental Car Employment

Hi, a friend of mine is in the horrible position of being un-employed at present.

He is finding it hard to find any work at the moment, and is willing to do anything. He loves cars, and really enjoys driving.

I suggested that he gets a temporary job driving cars for Rental Companies.. Surely someone has to do this?!

I suggested it, however, I have absolutely NO idea where he would start looking for this type of job.... or even if this job exists!! He told me that after a quick scan of their websites, there is nothing to guide him on how to move this on further.

Just wondering if anyone on here might be able to point us in the right direction??

I used to do this as a summer job......good laugh, sh1te money.

Best thing to do is actually ring the rental companies and ask if they are looking for drivers.......Heathrow branches would be the best places to call....

budget, avis, europecar etc

Failing that one of the employment agencies supplies them...think it is Blue Arrow

If he's under 20, spotty and has no mechanical sympathy he should be a shoo-in I used to watch the Hertz plebs get airborne off the speed bump outside my office..

lol... Ok, thanks for the input guys!!

I'll tell him that he'll need to phone the companies direct to see what they can offer him.

Only problem is that we are up in Dundee, the closest "large" airport is Edinburgh, over 50miles away... so unless you can use a car for personal use, it might be a lost cause as the cost to commute would swallow up his earnings!!

He's over 20 and acne-free.. however, he likes driving Rental Cars as does everyone I think, for the simple reason that you'll only have it for a few hours/days and as long as it isnt smoking or on the back of a trailer, you give it back and walk away.

Cheers,
Grant

Ive found that the rev limit is always considerably higher on one day rentals! In fact; the quickest and best handling cars Ive ever driven have been hired.....

I did this whilst on shiftwork in another job for something to do and it was the most fun ever Racing around in hire cars racing each other to destinations and thrashing the crap out of cars and getting paid (peanuts) I just went into Avis and asked them if they needed a driver whilst visiting a mate at a main dealer he was working at
