Question Airmiles

I have some airmiles and would like to know the most efficient way of using them? I know I can use cash and AM and AM on their own. I can also find a holiday other than the AM site and get AM to discount it then use my AM for further savings but which is best and are their better ways?

Share your experiences please?

I've got a few kicking around here.

In the past when I've taken long haul hols I've used them to get discounts of between 10 - 15% off the list price. From memory this was a few hundred miles and when you bear in mind that one hol was over £3000 that's not a bad rate of return. I can't remember whch tour operators did that but the airmiles helpline or whatever should be able to help there.

I've never done the maths of working out the best return though but it seemed a decent deal to me. Don't think you'd get flight worth tat sort of money for that few miles.

Edited to say ..... this was a few years ago not had a decent holiday since the family arrived.

They used to do that discount on british airways hols but nowadays it only seems to be on specific holidays. Only worthwhile ones I've used are the short breaks to Barcelona etc of cash + miles. Check their webiste.
