Now this is in no way aimed at all Scoobynetters but there are a good few of you for who this is meant........

I sit back and wonder what makes Subaru owners think they are a cut above everyone else? I read threads where Nova's get the pxss taken, Saxo's are hammered, Clio cups cannot be as fast as WRX's etc etc. Now that is all well and good, it is a scooby forum after all, but what really gets my goat is that the driver of the saxo, nova is automatically a chav and a ********. Where does that come from? Are they not just us from 10 years ago (generally?)

What makes scooby owners think they are better? Is it because we have a bit more money and drive ''rally'' cars (PMSL). If a Clio overtook its coz we missed a gear, they could never ever be as good or quick, no no no...

We then go onto moan about how Nova driving Chavs sit on our axrses all day trying to bait us and how we either turn our noses up and ignore them or destroy them with a bit of boost.......I wonder how many Porsche / ferrari forums run the same threads talking about scooby driving chavs baiting them on the road??

Then the pxss is taken out of other cars with body kits etc ...... ''Look at the state of that Cxnto'', etc etc. I just wonder what Porsche owners think of our stickered up rally replica's?

Im probably as guilty as the next man of some if not all the above BUT I like to think I defend the younger element with their saxo's, Nova's etc coz not so long ago I was 17 years old in my mini cruising around......

Oh and lastly in the last 2 years of ownership I have not had one local nipper sit on my axrse trying to race. I get a flash, wave, nod of appreciation which I always acknowledge and im happy to chat with them if they approach me etc.......

So why do Scooby owners think they are god like?

Scoobynetters living in the past, when only IT contractors on Y2K danger money could afford to buy and run Scoobs. NOwadays though everyone is just a quick and easy remortgage away from a 911, so scoobs ought to shut up.

Gutman, I think there are two sides to this.

One, the question of why someone would spend 20k on a punto which to me smacks of a serious perspective issue and;

Two, the "my car is better than yours" arsehole attitude that prevails on here.

One aspect is that Scoobs can make a very ordinary driver look very good, so many owners end up believing their own hype.

Like you loving and owning a 205 and the scoob being the everyday car I own a renault 5 so my love is elsewhere other than the scoob and see it from a different angle

@Gutmann - as SJS said - it's 'cos this is a single make forum and they're all the same, but for crying out loud, loosen up! You have to take a view on the way things are said and keep them in context ...

I doubt, despite commenting, that anybody truly believes (or would be so small minded) that " all Saxo drivers are < insert derog' term here > " ... ?

I think that any one marque/type board will be mostly frequented by enthusiasts of that marque, No suprises there!

Needless to say most are loyal and see 'their' cars as being the best, if not pretty good.

I do not think think you will find this is exclusive to SN.

Gutmann - scooby owners get big heads cos people always make a point of saying "...but it's quicker than a scoob". As though a scoob is some sort of benchmark.

Certainly on many, but there are one or two where its not as bad.

In my experience, the arseholishness increases with the cost of the marque in question up to a point where the wealth is such that being "better" which is of course entirely subjective doesn't matter.

Probably a nice parabolic curve, peaking around new 997 money, with a nasty spike at £25K

Course I love the scooby, I probably always will, its a great car. But I dont think I own the best car in the world, far from it, infact I call it my Japcrap.
But more than anything else what you wont find me doing is giving nippers a hard time about driving their Nova's etc. They spend more time and percentage of their cash on them than I do. They wash and polish more than me, alot of them know more about keeping their cars running than i do, and for that I respect them........

What's the difference between a chaved up nova and a stickered up My03. Just because one is worth >20k doesn't make it any less chavy.
