Default whats the better type of heater to buy. Electric or Oil??

Need to buy a little heater for my garden shed too keep the fridge freezer warmish, so it wont cut out in the cold weather.

Looked on Argos at the oil/electric and also the electric.
Any ideas which one is cheapest to run and is one better than the other for any reason??

Saw a low power electric one which used 1p per hour.
Thought that was ok??

Any help would be great

Thanks

Jamie

low power electric one might not be warm enough?

at work when i took over there was no heater at all!

now i have 2 oil filled rads and a 2000watt electric heater

the oil filled rads both have thermostats so when they reach there temp, they switch off but the oil stays warm, untill it drops below its set temp and it comes back on

the electric one just blasts out the heat from about 3 seconds after switching it on

the electric one is fitted under ly desk so it keeps my nads warm
we have hung the oil filled rads up on the walls.
bit strange keeping a fridge freezer warm tho?
if its that cold why do you need a fridge freezer in there anyway?

If the temp drops too low then the freezer turns off as it thinks the temp is low enough to keep the food frozen

err....

If the frost stat on the freezer thinks it will be cold enough to keep the food safe, then theres a fair chance it it below zero.

BTW, I think your freezer will be chucking heat out anyway-its part of the process.

Its just fridge freezers that struggle outside. Because they have 2 separate thermostats they tend to get confused about temperatures, and will generally turn either the fridge or freezer bit off.

Something like that anyway

Fridges/freezers on their own are fine, its just the FF combo's.

The electric convection heater type warm up much much faster, but the oil ones give a much more even heat, unlike the off/on action of the thermostat in the convetion ones,

Therefore we have one of each working in combination as you wait all day for the oil one.
