Default Inland Revenue, b**tids

Did my tax return a few months ago, got a nice cheque from them for £1649 quid, i double & triple checked it to make sure,

So last week they sent me a letter saying I had overpaid by £1275 quid

Just got home from work, and they are now demanding £373 quid

oh, and they are charging interest from now !!

gonna phone em up in the morning and demand why I owe them money, ive been on a low tax code too for the past 12 months

Fecklers

Pay up ASAP then argue the toss. You dont want them racking in the interest at their rates!

I think I'm in for the same treatment, started at a new company in May and have had no end of BR and M1 BR codes since I joined, could be interesting once they finally manage to sort it out...

Im not paying it yet, they can stuff

i dont have the money at the moment either (which is the main reason) I did tell em to take any underpayments out of next years tax, which going by the date I submitted my tax return, I am well entitled for them to take that option

They refused me the year before and made me pay about a grand, cos I missed the deadline, they aint getting away with it this year

I just had to fill in a form for 2002-3 (they didn't have my address), after a couple of months of letters avoiding the hundred quid overdue bill, then trying to do it online and waiting for logon details to come through the post only to find out it only supports IE (another waste of IT budget), I've now got a letter from the IR saying I owe them ... £1.60. It will have cost 100 times this in admin I'm sure. Idiots.
