Default Confessions - Big Movies you've never seen!

Some you're glad you missed - others you've always meant to - what are they?

Dirty Dancing & Titanic - Never seen - never really want too!
Goddfellas - Really want to watch, just never got around to it yet!
All 3 Godfathers - seen most of the first one - but it's finding the time for them all!

Braveheart
Dances With Wolves
Schindler's List
The Shawshank Redemption

It seems that once a movie's been labelled an all time great I lose interest in seeing it.

Yup, similar...

Braveheart
Dances With Wolves
Titanic
Schindler's List

I think my main reason is that I watch films to be entertained and transported to a different place.

I'd rather not watch some N*zi idiot shooting people for the fun of it. Or someone being hung, drawn and quartered. Not exactly uplifting stuff in the main.

Edited to add :-

Saving Private Ryan is another example of something I've avoided for the same reasons.

I'd say the Shawshank Redemption is my all time favourite film, but it was so emotionally costly that I'm never going to watch it again!!!!

What principle is that then? How do you know a film is overhyped until you see it?

Some (admittedly very few) are worth the hype.

Anyway.......

Sound of Music
Mary Poppins
Gone with the Wind
Citizen Kane

that I can remember

I remember an interview with Kevin Costner after he won his Oscars for Dances With Wolves....he was saying how the Oscars are great but it killed the films profitability because of all the people who would act on their principles and not watch a hyped film......he was really quite distressed.

There are probably loads because I'm not very good at sitting still and concentrating for long enough to watch a film. However, the only one I can think of at the moment is Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Oh, and Seven. I haven't watched that one deliberately because I can't decide whether it will disturb my delicate self...!

I reckon you should see the LOTR series - I got the first one on Region 1 from the US before it got it's UK release (forgot I ordered it) and I wasn't expecting to enjoy it - I heard the word "Wizards" and thought it would be total pants like the last Wizard film I watched (Harry Potter) so god knows why I bought it. Watched it and thought "That was OK I suppose".

Didn't see 2 towers until just before the last one came out - and I probably only watched it because I'd seen Fellowship. I reckon 2 Towers was the one that got me hooked - I loved it.

I usually watch it sat in front of the TV with the headphones on - the soundtrack is awesome.

Deffo worth a look - I was expecting to hate them but they're probably my favourite films now.

Thumbs down Cinemas? No thanks!

Haven't been to the cinema since 1972, and have no intention of ever going again.

Dirty, noisy, anti-social, and that's just the audience

Over priced, over hyped crap, most films.

I'll wait 'till it's on DVD or TV if I REALLY want to see it.

hadnt seen the Great Escape till fairly recently. They all got caught, what was great about that???

Though that had to be the greatest misleading trailer ever. Usually trailers show the best/only funny part of the film. But all this time i thought Steve McQueen escapes jumping over the fence only then to find out theres another fence he cant jump & he gets caught....

Well I think you'd find they've changed a bit since 1972 then. The mulitplexes around here are generally clean, and I must admit I don't find them noisy (never did though). As for anti-social, well, sitting at home on your own is too, so I don't really see what you mean there.

There are lots of films that should be seen on a big screen though, it just ain't the same on a TV. People say "I don't know what the fuss is all about", but seeing it as it should be, on a huge screen that you struggle to take in all at once with big sound can be a totally different experience to sitting in front of your telly, with the lights on and the missus babbling on about rubbish whilst you try and concentrate!

Yeah it does. Worked in **** for the best part of 15 years and after 'Deep Throat' and 'Animal Farm' it was the title most asked for.

The Exorcist
LOTR 2 & 3 - Seeing the first put me off
Gone With The Wind (and frankly, I don't give a damn)
2F2F
Faces of Death (does this even exist?)
The Godfather series - playing in the background on Xmas Day doesn't really count
Ditto Ben Hur
Many films with Dustbin Hoffman (did see Marathon Man just to see his tooth being drilled )
Jungle Book - seen some scenes many times, but not the whole film

Never been in the slightest bit interested in Italians killing Italians, so The Godfather's and Goodfellows have passed me by. Most others I've seen including "Debbie" The skinny girl in the sauna has a talent
