It's amazing how quick life can change
Picture the scene:
You're having a day off from work and have just stepped out of the shower and are trying to decide what to have for lunch (it is 12:00, after all).
The phone rings: "this is the ante-natal day care unit". Ah, yes, the wife had gone there for a routine blood pressure check. "We've sent her up to the labour ward, you need to get here, but don't rush, there's no panic". Yeah, no panic, of course not
Got there about 12:30, ten minutes later the consultant comes in. "You're going to have a baby...within the next half hour. There's no signs of labour, but the baby is distressed and we think it's best to get him out as quick as possible" Double
Apparently the placenta was too small and was starting to break up and in his distress the baby had got the cord wrapped round his neck ( really wishing I hadn't watched the directors cut of Butterfly Effect a few weeks back).
Anyway, at 13:27 Dylan Joseph was born, weighing only 4lb 13oz but healthy as you could hope for. Certainly the most adrenaline charged hour and a half I've ever experienced, but so worth it for the end result.
