Question We're getting him WHAT for christmas ?!!!!

OK, so I have responsibility for getting the boys christmas pressie.........

I have decided slot car racing is the way to go , afterall, what 2yr old wouldn't love that (okay so it's for me really)

Question is this:

SCX or Scalectrix or is there something better ?

IMHO SCX looks to be the better of the two

I wonder what the most outragous thing you could get yourself (under the pretext of it being for the kid) would be?....

Look little Billy.... a brand new Scooby!!!! What? He'll grow into it!!!

Out of the two, I would go for the Scalextric Set. It is more 'quality', and the cars are quicker and look better.

Which set are you going for?

P.s SCX cars can run on Scalextric track and vice versa.

Spot the Slotforum boys!

Personally I've got Scalextric but only due to my GF buying me the Subaru Challenge set from Argos. I had been considering an SCX set becuase there seemed to be more in each set than with Scalextric and SCX track will fit the old type of scalextric track.

Digital is a new thing for all manufacturers but for a 2 year old your better off with normal as the ability to change lanes may make things even more confusing. One point though is scalextric digital uses the same track as normal scalextric. SCX has completely changed its track.

However Scalextric in the UK is the most widely available and I would have to suggest that for something to knock about with on a rainy Sunday its to go with Scalextric.

You just missed the 20% off toys at Argos. I bought two sets that normally cost £99.99 each for £79.99. For a good laugh go for the Scoob and Police Focus.

And lastly to prolong the life of the cars and youngsters - cotton wool ***** and masking tape. Pop a ball under the trigger and tape it up. Kids will always just hold on tight to the trigger. The ball will stop full chat crashes into the sofa. My daughter is 3 and if shes holding the trigger just right she's quite hard to catch.

I'm getting the scalextric...after all being 27 doesn't mean you can't have fun

Think the gf has bought be Hot Pursuit....it was either that or Crash and Bash.

My mate (30) got one for his birthday. We're gonna make the biggest track ever.

It's like being 12 again
