Just wanting to know what others are doing with the BG mailout offering no gas price increases until 2007 if you pay a 3.5% surcharge now. Is it worth doing or should I just do what a 1,000,000 other people have done this year and find another provider?

lol sounds like a scam to me.. "pay more now and you wont have to pay more later". screw that.

find the cheapest in your area instead.

1,000's are deserting BG every week - join them!
I have saved £165 a year
Remember they have just whacked it up hugely AND reports are that new fields will mean gas is MUCH cheaper in 3 years time ..............
Stay with BG and lose/lose/lose
One question actually, I have boiler cover with BG - I assume I am still covered? they still take my money!

I bet you wont save £165 /year at all as the other companies WILL follow breitish Gas and increase prices as we saw with Nat Power two weeks ago who incresed their prices by 16% but were advertising that they were much cheaper than BG just weeks before. Its all a clever ploy just to get your business and obviously it works in a lot of cases.

I use a company called utility-warehouse, they undercut everyones prices for Gas, Elec, landline and mobile telephone bills.
Ive saved over £100.00 in the past year compared to what I would have paid seperately.
You can find them on the internet but wont hear about them as they dont advertise.
Have a look - http://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/st...f?exref=857589

I will repeat what the experts say - Gas prices have settled and will get cheaper (BG are not stupid and wouldn't offer a deal that didn't line their pockets!)
Leave - the others will have no need to follow the BG huge increases as they are historic increases ....................... all done and dusted

Pete probably has saved money. I imagine the combination of the hot air and gas he produces has enabled him to run his palace in the self-sufficient style of the Goodes...

In terms of price rises the worst performing UK energy companies rank as follows:
Worst gas price increases (2002-2003)
. .
Company Average price increase
Powergen 15.0%
London Energy 12.2%
Seeboard Energy 12.1%
Worst electricity price increases (2002-2003)
Powergen 6.2%
Npower 3.5%
Atlantic 3.1%
Looking at price rises alone can be very confusing as they don’t give you the whole picture. For example, although Powergen has increased prices considerably this year, they started from a low base and still offer very competitive deals. Depending on where you live they could still be your cheapest energy supplier! The price increase of 15%, shown above, is an average of the amount Powergen charges have risen across the country, so may not accurately represent your area.
It’s easy to look at the whole picture objectively if you use animpartial online price comparison tool. The results are displayed in a table to make comparisons easy. Switching data is updated regularly and can give you a comprehensive guide to the best and worst suppliers for your area. Switching suppliers need not be a long, complicated process.
If you’ve yet to change suppliers you could be missing out on huge savings, especially if your current supplier has increased its prices this year. Do make use of this site, and see if you can make 2004 your year of saving money on household bills.
