How long do you think he'll be on the scene?

Remember Alex Parks, Gareth Gates, Michelle McManus etc.?

Michelle? She had no chance. Pete Waterman was livid if I remember correctly and he said there and then that she had no chance. I really don't think that much effort was put in to promoting her, she just faded out with the closing credits of the show.

Alex? I know that she's been in the studio, don't know who the label was that she was signed with? Maybe they are taking a longer term aproach with her and you'll see more in a while when the 'winning contestant' vibe has worn off?

Gareth did ok, he had a typical career for that kind of artist.

Steve? Who knows? Simon will put some effort in. He's also more 'real' than the previous sorts of winners so he may crack it if he gets some decent songs. Best of luck to him!

BTW, I had wanted to see Verity do better so what do I know?

G4 are a joke. I'm sure they're nice enough fellas but they just do the same treatment to every song. After hearing a few tracks it just becomes a parody.

Steve is OK, but I wouldn't pay three quid to see him in the bar. G4 could probably have had a couple of hits. To make a queen song better than queen and a radiohead song better than radiohead takes some talent, but even Westlife fall down with non stop covers. That said, the only one of the last nine with anything to show was the kid who looked like Sharon Osbourne. (Taffy??) The real talent was the heavy black guy that didn't make the last three.

Which just goes to show how bloody simple the Brirtish public are . They cant be aresed to vote on matters that affect their health, education, taxes, transport, law etc but actually pay to vote for a second rate TV show.

Is it any wonder this country is in the state its in. We'll quite likely see Tony Blair giving the winner a civic reception in a few days to try and get a few younger voters on his side as well.

Nice little earner though What do you think they take net on each call? 20p? 7 million x 20p =

PS. I'd have put my money on G4 to win easily so shows what I know!

It always annoys me when people say that. Lots of people vote zillions of times so 7 million votes etc sounds a lot but it may have been only 1 million that actually voted unlike an election where we get one vote each.

The first time I watched it was last night - I just caught the announcement and the winner's song.

He was no better than any of the Stars In Your Eyes contestants. Just an ok karaoke singer.

Hardly the new Stevie Wonder.

He has a very good voice although it does seem suited more to ballads and soul tracks, pity though I wanted g4 to win only because I bet the missus they would win and now Im £100 down I thought g4 should have won but the key for them is getting the arrangements of the songs right, there was too much emphasis on john singing tenor with the other guys singing most of the baritone and bass parts together but hey they'll have a deal with louis walsh.

Phone in to vote for the best singer
Phone in to vote for the worst singer
Phone in to vote for the best ballroom dancer
Phone in to vote for which house gets restored
Phone in to keep someone in the jungle
Phone in to see whose house gets decorated
Phone in to keep some lowlifes in a house for 10 weeks
Do I see a pattern here?
What is the number to phone to get all this crap off the TV
Alas

7 million votes...the avarge is prob 2 votes perperson at MOST......you may like the idea that its some little kid voting 7 million times on her own but i doubt it.......for every 14 year old with a big bill there will be be hundreads who just vote the once.

If its less than 3 million individuals i'd be amazed.

and steve won because louise was a tool and simon was smarter.......although....if G4 had won they would get a deal with Cowell...would Walsh want that anyway? G4 will now be signed to Walsh instead.

I wasn't really following it. But I was rooting for Steve.

IMO out of all these popstar/idols etc. I think Steve has the one of the most adaptable, unique(ish) and good all round singing voice.

G4, they're different, I'll give them that. But in terms of opera, their voices are no match for the greats, rather course and forced voices IMO.

I still think half the show is set up anyway, like when Steve was first auditioned and turned away, only to be called back....seemed staged to me.

PS. I didn't vote, and I banned any foolish person in my household from trying to vote
