I wouldn't come to scoobynet for advice about HIV, that's for sure.

Hello

I knew someone who was HIV+ a few years ago, well over 10 years ago, but unfortuntately they died.

If you want serious help, you should probably ask a question rather than getting people to PM you.

Steve.

SN is pretty daft place to get "serious" advice on anything (apart for cars) but it passes the time.

I would assume a topic on HIV is one that requires serious input and isnt suitable to pass the time...may want to look elsewhere!

I think getting HIV sufferers on the Weakest Link is a really bad idea, Anne, don't do it.

Alternatively if you want sensible info try the Terrence Higgins Trust website

Your local std clinic would be a good place, or the terrance higgins trust

Dont you just think its terrible though that if you get life assurance you have to declare if you have had an aids test. Surely its better to not ask the question than have people die in ignorance because it would affect their premiums. It must be better to be safe and responsable. In fact its criminally stupid IMHO. Should be outlawed. Is it not a form of discrimination

Totally agree stuey, at the company I work at a couple of us needed to get keyman insurance, advisor came and took all our details a month or so later doctor contacts me to say I need a HIV test before they will accept the policy, I consider myself low-risk but if you have the test you have to see a councillor. Ten minutes with the councillor and I was convinced I had it and was crapping myself about having a test! And the biggest joke is they would have an exclusion that wouldnt cover you if you did die from it!

Hmm seems strange - my keyman insurance didn't stipulate I'd have to have a HIV test. They seemed more bothered about me smoking than whether or not I'd 'spunked up a wrong 'un'

Especially as women are now routinely tested for HIV when they get pregnant.

Just ask what you want to know. If we know the answer we will reply. I can certainly have a go at answering questions specific to the microbiological side of things.

Note to everybody - dont let this happen to you. If you're too drunk to know what you're doing, just dont do it. I'd swap the way I'm feeling right now for anything, it's terrifying.
what would u say low risk activity is and why would u consider this woman high risk ?
whens ur appointment ?

If you want to have an AIDS test without insurance problems - donate blood!

Apart from being the honourable thing to do, it also lets you have an AIDS test (as well as many other tests) without fear of insurance/employment etc problems. See here for details on giving blood.

I thought there was something weird about that woman!

Sorry trying to lighten the tone a little.

My appointment will be after twelve weeks from the time I slept with this woman. Low-risk means "normal" sex - with a condom. That split. Didn't really think more of it until I started generally feeling unwell, putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. The girl is being very defensive in a "you shouldn't have got me drunk" way, but denies being infected. Problem is, many people out there dont know they have it. It's a horrible situation - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.
out of interest how old r both of u ?

and why would u think the worst just bcoz of this woman. obviously u've been with others b4 so whats different here ?

I really feel for you. The wait of that duration must be agonising. Is there no way it can be done sooner? - or does it not show up?

Given that your partner has been intimate with many other people recently, she is likely to be carrying other bugs (other than the nasty one in question), it's probabily a case of you've got the flu / cold from her & nothing more.

I was commenting, in a light hearted way, that your post was pointless. My first thought on reading it was that you were being a macho hairy chested "i don't know any queers" type of bloke. Are you in denial about something?

As for me having something to hide, I certainly haven't. I had a family friend die of AIDS before most people knew what it meant and I've worked and socialised with several HIV+ people in the past.

Where did this happen? Just because if its Dubai all the girls need to have an aids test before engaging in work.
Generally though, i feel you are suffering massive guilt, which is driving you on to imagine your symptoms out of general snuffles and wheezes.

Not hairy or macho I'm afraid Dont know any queers either, nor am I in denial about anything. To the contrary in fact.

As for me having something to hide, I certainly haven't.
Nice to see weve got something in common then.
