Nice to see you did a lot of research into your new venture

Seriuosly though, when taking water from a mains system for commercial use you will need to obtain a licence and metered standpipe from your local authority or risk a big fine if caught.

The guy who does the cars for the peeps in the building opposite us just uses a 10 gallon drum. It has a hand pump on the top with one of those adjustable spray nozzles on.

He seems to use very little water and obviously its cold. I wouldn't let them do my car as i dont think all the grit and sh1te is washed off properly with a small quantity of cold water................. but then theres lots of company cars that he does where i spose peeps dont give a toss as long as their car looks clean

This guy seems to be working all the time around our local business park and been doing it for years so there must be some good money in it

There are some waterless valeters around, a mate of mine had his beemer done and it was incredible looked like he had just driven it out of the show room, mind you cost him about £90 and took two guys a day to do!

been talking with one of my staff, the previous boss had thought about it

he told me he had looked into it, and only useing a small amount of cold water is a setback as well

plus your cost of diesel and roadtax/insurance needs to be looked into

A mate o' mine does mobile valeting. He uses a Merc Sprinter van, with a largeish, baffled tank (not sure how big, but could find out). Doesn't use mains water, as it's probably more trouble than its worth. They use one hell of a power washer - petrol generator drives the washer, and the diesel heater heats the water. Detergent feed into the water, I believe. I can find details if you want.

Working 9 till 5 on a good day, the company can make around 800 quid. Doesn't seem too bad.

i used to do this and thinking about setting up again we got a local plumber to heat weld up a plastic tank for the back of an estate then a generator and pressure washer surprizing how little water you can use if you try and still get the best results

actually, thinking about it, can you use a scooter and one of those "nennette" (sp?) mop things that grandad used to polish his Humber with??? (this will bring out the more mature scoobynetters!!) no water required, and your car will stink like a freshly linseeded cricket bat for months!!!

Oi Lewis, you probably still use one.
