Question Sheffield to Blackpool - which route to take ?

Can anyone offer advice on the best route (ideally using motorway or dual A roads) to get from Sheffield to Blackpool on a Saturday afternoon please?

I've studied the maps, but there doesn't seem to be a route that jumps out and says "me, me". It looks like a mix of Mway and A routes but as I don't know the roads in that neck of the woods, I'm not sure what the roads are like to drive.

I'm not looking for a great driving experience, just to get to Blackpool as quickly as poss (legally !! )

Anyone make this trip regularly?

Cheers, Gareth

From Sheffield take the M1 Northbound to J35a Take the A616 driving very carefully and minding the SPECS to the A628 Woodhead Pass to Manchester. Join the end of the M67 towards Manchester and then follow the motorway signs for Blackpool; Id suggest turning right (anticlockwise) at the M60 as the traffic will be lighter; take the M61 and then the M55.

Thats the route I'd looked at, although it didn't seem the most direct, being Mway thought it might be the best for me - being a foreigner
