back at work tommorow......
ive been off for the last 3 months with stress and high blood pressure, ive been told I should not be returning as it could end up killing me... oooh fun.
so after 3 months of constant scoobynet and plenty of r&r im going back to it tommorow for 10 hours of fun....
im not looking forward to it, but trying to keep an open mind.
anyone else been faced with this and how did you deal with it?
before any snide comments im not taking the michael, I was told just 3 short months ago I was at risk of having a heart attack!! oh im just 31 btw!

I was off this year also with stress was also told I was drinking far to much alcohol and needed to cut down I ended up being off for 6 months in total, I had to come back and do a 11 hour night shift, it was hard thinking about it at home but once back in it was like I had never been away apart from a few new faces I slotted straight back into the swing of things

Hi mate i know what it's like to suffer from stress as a few years ago i had stress for about 3 years on & off, what i did try was one of them Paul McKenna's tapes to deal with stress, it does take a while but i found that after a few weeks it did seem to work, it's also a case of mind over matter when i went back to work (although this is easier said than done sometimes), hope this is of some help and you feel better soon.

cheers for your reply guys
ive actually been going for counselling (sp) its one of those things ive always thought nah not worth it, no point in it.. blah blah.
how wrong!! first time i went i was talking about stuff I dint think were of any relevance at all, but it helped, the second time it just poured out, and i felt loads better for it, ive had four sessions and have 2 more booked in this year.
the downside for me is that I work in a very stressfull envoiroment, so I have to deal with it, im worried about how people are going to treat me etc when i go back, again i guess that this is part of the stress.
im not really looking forward to it, but I need to go back as its starting to get stressfull being off work if that makes sense?

p.s. ray even golf would stress me out mate at this time!!
ive bought a car thats helped with some of it though (sort of)

Good luck with your return.......
Are you sure it's the the work that's causing the stress and not your reaction to stress ?
Thin dividing line
Good luck and being up front with your colleagues is the best advice I can give you
Cheers

Right. So 3 have committed suicide, and your doctor told you that you were at a high risk of serious illness/death.
...and you still want to go back there to work?????????????
Why? Is it worth that much?
Egg isn't it? You work in a call centre?

3 suicides in 1 dept. in 1 year?
Presumably, your employers have now done something to address what is clearly a very major problem?

I asked because I know a one or two senior people at the one I referred to, who would have been in a position to help.
Incidentally, when I last saw them (autumn) they were looking for new people. Whether or not this is still the case I don't know - but if you do fancy a change let me know and I'll try and find out for you.
Meantime, hope all goes well today

Surely all the signs are pointing towards finding another job, instead of having to go back to the same environment that obviously causes such stress?
But, nevertheless, good luck today.

As everyone else - I'm horrified you're still there - but are you able to tell us why? I'm assuming you're an intelligent human being that doesn't have a death wish - how can any job be worth all that?
I don't mean to be horrid but if you don't leave right now then you're a fool - if being told you're heading for a heart attack at 31 doesn't give you a wake up call then what the hell will?
I have a postcard on my bookcase at home:
"Be not so busy making a living that you forget to make a life"
