Lost In Translation with Bill Murray...
Does anyone "get" this film
I've just sat through an hour and a half of what IMHO was a terrible film.
And what was that ending supposed to mean
I can't believe it was nominated for an award
Did anyone actually enjoy / get it ?

I thought it was quite good, very good portrayal of the utter boredom encounterd by someone on business in a foreign city he's never been to before.
Yeah it's not funny or action oriented but it's not meant to be. If you went out with the idea that it was a Bill Murray film and would therefore be joke a minute stuff then you went to the wrong film
And anyway you should have been going to see it just for Scarlett Johansson anyway

Hello
I didn't like it, but yes it is supposed to portray the boredom of being away much to the suspicion of my wife: "So THAT'S what you do when you stay in hotels all the time is it ..."
Steve.

I must be in a minority then because I enjoyed this film. Not that I found it in anyway funny, but I did enjoy watching it. Same as 'about schmidt' really, in that not huge amount happens, but then you wouldn't watch this film if you were expecting an action flick or a comedy.

One of the worst films I've ever seen, regardless of any hype surrounding it.
In hindsight, a film about 2 people, who manage to be bored in one of the most interesting cities in the world, was always going to be boring. The film never actually started properly, just lingered like a bad smell.
Also, some huge holes in the plot, the main one being at the end. Quite how the bint managed to be going up in a lift at the hotel when Bill Murray leaves in a cab, then magically be transported halfway across the city when Murray's cab stops, is beyond me.
I feel cheated out of 2 hours of my life.

I agree. LIT is, well, a little odd, and not everyone's cup of tea. It was somewhat boring (maybe that is meant to be? would be ironic), but I did enjoy it.
Same goes for AS, not that fast paced, or funny, but some bittersweet moments.
Another film or two I'd put in here are Welcome to Colinwood and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
They are not mainstream, and thus won't appeal to everyone.
Oh, if you want a very, very, very bad film, go see "The Brown Bunny".
