Default Sandwich anyone??

As a shift worker over the years i sure have develped a taste for the heavenly fruit also known as a sandwich. This main fuel keeps me going even when the chips are down.

After trying them from every source i can get my paws on i have come to the conclusion that the bestest two you can buy (taking into account the cost , diversity between each bite, freshness etc) are.....

Pret a Manger .... (not exactly sure how its spelt) Ceaser chicken on wholemeal bread priced at £2.75

OR...

Subway meatfeast 12 inch priced at £4.99 with all the sauces and extra peppers etc.

Ok theres the real deal right there, go try and enjoy the mothwatering experience. If anyone knows of any other sumptuous sandwich delights please feel free to tell.

DOg.

New place called soho sandwich or something like that. They seem to have sprung up in shopping centres.

Anyway, they do the *best* roast beef baguette I have ever tasted!

Also like the Pret crayfish and rocket salad!

Subway 12 inch roast beef with dijon horseradish and all the peppers, olives, etc., does it for me.

The best sarnies are those made fresh at home every morning, much more satisfying than some over-priced, over-hyped and over-garnished rubbish from a chain

Angry

Also being a shift worker and fully aware of the importance of sandwiches to our ranks, I was recently devastated to discover that my #1 in choice of sandwiches has been discontinued.

The fantastic "All Day Breakfast in BAKED BEAN Bread" from Boots (as in the chemist!). Every time I saw that orange bread, I couldn't help but buy one to stop the rampaging tingle in my tastebuds. Explain yourself Mr. Boots, WHY not make it any more..? It always used to sell out..!!

Nige,
Dover.

I find the independents are always much better than the big chains. Prawn mayonnaise and lettuce is a fave, as is any form of mexican/cajun chicken...MMmmmm.

If anyone is near dean st, just off oxford st there is an Italian deli that does a fantastic sandwich. It's some kinda chicken one but I can't remember exactly what.

Go and try.........

Why are sandwiches so fancy these days, it's like bloody starbucks only not tasty.
Annoys the hell out of me that I can't go into a motorway services and get a plain cheese or tuna butty on white bread with no bloody rabbit food on it.

Currently munching on a home-made roast beef, red onion and mayo sandwich - superb!!

Also found out last week that Asda Egg Mayo (the stuff you buy ready made in the boxes) and red onion is a great combo.

Roast meat sandwiches from some little shop in the centre of York...mmmmm

Everyday they freshly roast on the premises Lamb, Beef, Pork chunk it up and stick it in a roll with mustard/mint sauce/ horseradish.

The smell is amazing and just the thought of it makes my mouth is water.....might have to drive 200 miles for a quick bite to eat
