Question Whats the next "cause" going to be now that fox hunting is banned?

From Greenham common to Fox hunting.

Whats the next "cause" for those lonely middle aged women of the sixties?

they wont be banning fishing anytime time soon IMO. its 1 of the biggest sports in this country.... just as popular as football, not on the scale of fox hunting, plus its been proved that the fish dont feel anything when caught as they dont have any nerves in/around their mouth

Nah, I reckon they'll go after another sport that is thought by townies to only be done rich toffs, namely game shooting.

I'd like to see UK media-inspired unfounded paranoia banned, but failing that:

Baseball hats.
Golf.
The Darkness.
Smoking (oh good, it already is...)

No - But leave a fish to die out of the water or batter it over the head or cut it open through the gut while it's still alive.

Sounds like a cruel sport to me - must get onto my MP and demand action to save the poor old fish.

Any fish thats left out of the water to die, or batter it over the head or cutting it open would be hunting to provide food so its not a cruel sport. Fishing that is known as a sport, the fish are treated very well.

Ban eating jelly babies! How horrible must it be to have your limbs bitten off with such disregard to jelly life!

The power crazed believe they can do anything. If they can get away with prosecuting illegal wars in the middle east, killing tens of thousands, they can ban fishing, no problem.

true lol - they pissed off enough people over iraq thats for sure! But put it this way

Fox-hunters and supporters = i dunno... 50,000 mainly conservatives?
Fishers = millions, surely, and from all backgrounds

The political stakes are much higher, and if nothing else MP's look after their own asses!

To paraphrase Gore Vidal, who paraphrased a Greek philosopher(I can't remember which one) when he said "anyone who wants to be President of the United States of America should be banned from becoming President", I think we, in the UK, should ban anyone who wants to be a politician from becoming one.

They have to be very carefull with what they ban in terms of smoking, alot of "voters) smoke and after all the revenue does pay for the NHS.

Fishing is a "working man's" sport so I dont think they would get much back bench support for banning that, not as good as banning the "Toffs" as they say, from hunting.

I go fishing for the pot and any fish I do catch is humanely despatched as soon it is caught, if I don't need it because it is undersize I release it immediately.

The anti angling protagonists would have to also move to stop commercial sea angling if they want to be seen as genuine since those fish are left to die a slow death and are often filleted while they are still alive!

I am sure they will try it on though, they can be as nasty as the anti vivisectionists in their behaviour.

Fishing will never be banned.

It would be impossible to differentiate between river angling/see angling and any commercial fishing.

No way are any government going to ban commercial fishing.

Its not like commercial "foxing" goes on, is it?

LOL

In Australia they are already discussing measures to control cats, but then they clearly have more responsibility towards their indigenous wildlife in Australia than we do here.

Oooh, that's a good idea, breeding fox's specially for a hunt, they are bred and kept in cages, when a hunt is on, a couple are set loose into the wild for the hunt to catch. The dogs are trained to only catch the special fox's and not the free range ones.

Because people who play it bore me. They stand in pubs and offices doing imaginary golf swings and drone on about how they "chipped in" on the 14th.
And they have a pre-disposition to wearing baseball hats.

I would support hunts chasing golf-club weilding, baseball-hatted dullards across the countryside. Yes indeed.
