Default Been ripped off on ebay, what to do next?

My mum bought some earrings off ebay, here.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...e=STRK:MEWN:IT,

she sent a cheque as requested by seller. She recieved a jiffy bag with an empty box in it, the jiffy bag was sent 1st class not special delivery as stated in the auction. The bag was in A1 condition and didn't looked like anyone from royal mail had opened it.

she email the sellar explaining this and asking her to send the earrings special delivery but has had no reponse, what should we do next?

1) the auction ended on 18th Oct so she wants to leave negative feedback before the 30 days expires. (seller has already left positive feedback)
2) will ebay refund this money or contact the seller? Where do I find this information?
3) what would you peeps do?

I know it is only £20 but my mum is very trusting and I hate the thought she has been ripped off and want to do something about it.

TIA

Chopper

I would request to see the sellers contact information. Get their phone number and call them, I did this recently and it prompted a non-paying bidder to suddenly pay up . . . can't think why

Rule of thumb on ebay - never spend more on there than you can comfortably afford to loose!

I hope it is a miss-understanding and you get it sorted.

Cheeky buggers, sending an empty box indeed! I know its a bit extreme but my mate had some webspace....created a nice little site containing his dealings and abuse received from the ebay seller and left the site address as his feedback - think he got an apology and full refund to his paypal account within the hour!

The golden rule with ebay is always use paypal, that's your only protection.
Ebay does explain this many many times in the terms and conditions.
I would try and get the sellers info from ebay, but I would think you would need to get the police involved cos ebay will not give information about a sellers address unless the police ask for it.
That's my understanding.

Even using PayPal only gives you limited protection.

Ebay and PayPal have got a long way to go before I regard them as a viable buying & selling medium.

Been using ebay for a long time but never had a bad experience before,

supertouring - £20 wasn't more than we could afford to lose so rule of thumb isn't really any use. I just don't like being ripped off.

I wish we could have used paypal but it wasn't an option, maybe I will live and learn but the lying cheating biatch only lives 30 miles away so....................

No one does, but it is not the same as buying from a reputable company so carries a greater risk. The fact that you can often find things very cheap on there off-sets this risk, but be prepared to be Ripped Off - as it does happen.

If negotiation fails, try this:
