Question Best Vacuum - without a bag

Please do not recommend DYSON!! Overpriced pile of unreliable poooooh! AND I never follow the crowd

So, whats the best of the rest? Hoover will not get a lookin either.

Vax? Panasonic? Mielle? Bosch?

A mate at work bought an Electrolux one and said it was great.

Not a recommendation here, just giving you an option.

Never had any problems with my Dyson and the rest of the manufacturers followed Dyson's lead after being rejected by them

Pete,

there may be others that will fulfill your needs, but ive got to be honest, after going over to a dyson, and seeing the results, i wouldnt have anything else..

the best model in your price range would be the homosapian dustuspanus & brushus..

..

spend some of your hard earned.. christmas is just upon us,,

you wouldnt want a midnight visit would you now!!!!!!

Which mag says mielle, expensive but worth it. For the record I have a Dyson, superb but crap reliability since the plant was moved from England, not too much of an issus as I took out the 5yr warranty with it from Dyson for £60.

Having tried the bagless route for many years I got fed up with them spending more time apart. I gave my Dyson to my tenants in the end.

I've since gone back to bags and no longer spend hours on servicing.

I don't actually think I'd be tempted back to bagless to be honest.

Before anybody says it, I've never serviced a bag.

I would go for Bosch - I've had other household items such as dishwashers and irons and they do the business.

Definitely Miele.... But they're not bagless. Which isn't really a disadvantage, as it make them more reliable.

Mum's had the same problem with her current Dyson (old one's fine, still works as I have it here at uni on the house somewhere...). It keeps going and the engineer guy's said it's since production moved away from this country.

Pete, I would defintely recommend you get those jolly nice chaps from Kirby round to have a friendly, no-pressure chat about vacuum cleaners. You won't regret it.

After you've got out of prison for having beaten up aforementioned Kirby salesmen, forget about bagless and get - as mentioned already - a Miele.

What is this obsession with going bagless? Have you seen the state the container of a Dyson gets into? And do you really wnat to watch all your dog hairs whirling round and round? And any saving on the bags is wiped out by the massive over-pricing of the ugly kit itself.

I'd second Meile, even if it has bags. My mother's old one was stilling going strong after 22 years, with not a single repair. Only got rid of it 'cos you couldn't get bags any more.

We have 2 vax hoovers and although they have bags if you buy a cloth bag they are very good the paper bags are mince they just burst but the cloth bags last forever and when they get dirty you just stick them in the washing machine

voila one new bag

lets see you doing that with a bagless

Dyson's (and probably all bagless vacuums) aren't more powerful than vacuums with a bag, they just have a constant amount of suction, all the time. Vacuums with bags lose some suction when the bag gets full, but that's the time to change the bag anyway. Each to their own and all that, but a Meile with a fresh bag will outsuck any Dyson. A Kirby will outsuck just about anything, but will cost a fortune.

I can't believe how domesticated I've become...

Jerome is right: Dyson no longer claim this because they were sued by Meile, who proved that actually Meiles were better until the bag was almost full - at which point normal people would change it. Just because the adverts say it, don't make it true.

Panasonic is the best. Miele cleaners are also very good.

Let's discuss the best steam iron next!
