Don't discount Paula winning the public sympathy especially after bouncing back with a win in New York. Personally I wouldn't risk £5k like that to win £300.

I think Radcliffe is more likely to get it that Holmes - I wouldn't rule Wayne Rooney out either.

I thought you would have had to have a personality to win this, not just winning races/sporting events.

"Best sporting achiever" it should be called.

I mean look at some of the previous winners, more personality in a stick.

the term sports personality is used to refer to someone in sports...and a person in the public eye.......its nothing to do with their own personality...........because who the hell wants a competion for that???

its about achivement not whether they hold a fun party on a friday.

So why is it not the same as the American

"Sports Person Of the Year Award"

I understand what personality means, as in "you have a patronising personality".

It is the complex of all the attributes--behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental--that characterise a unique individual.

Anyone who has Radcliffe over Holmes - come to me, i'll give you 5/1 that Holmes will finish ahead of Radcliffe, no matter who wins overall.

Pinsent is the dark horse in this year's competition...

TelBoy, I know what your saying, I'd agree, but like I said, I wouldn't risk £5k on it to win a poxy £300

For the overall title, no, it's a bit mean i agree. Who's our Parolympian who keeps winning everything - she's got to be in with a shout too one of these days...

I think Paula Radcliffe deserves full credit for winning the NY Marathon, against the fastest person this yesr too.

Hard to say who will get the award although I would expect Kelly Holmes to win.

Good find paul, I think that is a banker bet.

Would be interesting to see how the bookies favourite has done in previous years, personally I think Holmes will win it but Pinsent is a dark horse.

Paula Radcliffe is a very popular person throughout the country and will do very well because of this.

Where did you see these odds?
