Easyjet fly to Geneva, Basel, Munich, Lyon, Grenoble or Turin. Ryanair fly to Friedrichshafen, Turin or Salzburg. All good locations for getting to ski resorts (depends where you want to go)!
Public transport is excellent and simple to use and there train/bus links to just about every resort in the Alps. Most transport workers speak English. Alternatively, you can get a hire car - Ski racks, snow chains etc. are available from most hire companies and are a good idea to have!
Most ski resorts have a website which links to accomodation, you can usually book accomodation on-line.
