Pity it's in such a state of disrepair. Always remember having my ears nearly blown off when I was at, umm, some US airbase in the UK, and they had a vulcan fly away from the crowd and then ignite the ol afterburners, cor, what a bloody noise! lovely

Maybe we should have a whip-round and buy it, we could then do pleasure flights with it to re-coop our money.....We already have a Driver in Lesley.

Must have been running a bit rich 'cos they didn't have afterburners (or thrust reheat as the techies would say)

88,000 lbs thrust in "takoff" setting from the 300 series engines. No reheat as Ali-B said. It would go vertical to 3,000 feet off the runway at light fuel weight.
