Default Animal help

Right, I know I didn't make this up. I was just having a conversation with someone about these little animals that have a single unfeasibly long and spindly finger which they use to tap on trees looking for hollow areas where grubs may have burrowed.

Long shot here, does anybody know what I am talking about, and if so, what's it called?

Found in Madagascar (which I probably can't spell either).

Best stick to my specialist subject "Reasons Utd have beaten us other than they were better than us".
