Net Curtains: hallmark of a Chav household?

Net Curtains: hallmark of a Chav household?
I think so. The dirtier the chavvier. Some I've spotted are so grey they're nearly black. .
What's the point of them? They must reduce light into the house and ruin the view out. If I want privacy I will simply draw the proper curtains or close the shutters.
A further often associated crime is to rip out beautiful original wooden sash windows and replace with UPVC or worse still stainless steel ones, thus at a stroke ruining the architectural inegrity, reducing resale value, and desroyinhg the "eyes" and soul of the property.
And to boot, I'll wager that inside, the lounge will be completely dominated by a huge TV tuned permanently to Sky and a nasty Land of Leather or DFS black leather suite with large ruched roll arms. Bookshelves will be devoid of books but full of low-brow videos
I've also noticed that sadly, many scooby owners have such dubious taste, judging by the photos that are seen on here regularly of cars in the driveways.

Nice net curtains are NOT Chav, though crappy, mucky ones are beyond Chav, they are simply the choice of the peasant/underclass/scum.
Lets not get mixed up between Chavs and peasants. Some Chavs live in cracking houses in soert ofter areas - it's an attitude thing.
Dirty, cheap quality net curtains are what peasants have.

I'm a chav but I don't own net curtains or one of the sofas you mention, in fact I don't even know what "large ruched roll arms" are. Sadly my bookshelves are full of weighty tomes rather than vin diesels latest.
I do have an Impreza though so I must qualify

Speaking of chavs, did anyone watch the darts yesterday?
That "King" bloke that was playing, FPMSL.
He had fake tan on, a chunky 9ct gold chain round his neck, single chunky 9ct gold bracelet on right (throwing) wrist, several 9ct gold chains and a tacky looking gold watch on his left wrist, huge sovereign rings on all 4 fingers of his left hand. Nice.
All he really needed to finish off the ensemble perfectly was a "Sponsored by Elizabeth Duke at Argos" badge on his shirt.

Net curtains acan be very, very nice and tasteful. They have to be done correctly, not just like a piece of crap hango=ing over the window like this thread refers.
Laminate flooring, it's too modern for me. Ok maybe for a bedroom/computer room but I like my thick pile carpet. I like quality.

Jesus wept, is scoobynet chav obsessed?
Net curtains have been around for longer than most of you lot have been alive. Does this mean that every woman over 50 is now a chav?
FFS get a grip.

Net curtains allow in natural light and a view outside whilst deterring a focussed view into the house when light levels are better outside than in - that's the point. At night, you draw normal curtains or else the effect is reversed (i.e. people could see in and you couldn't see out). Simple concept really. Like a lot of things, they can be done well, or they can be done in a very tacky style.
Not everyone has shutters - they can be very difficult to get in UPVC
Personally, I agree that I much prefer the look and feel of wooden frames to UPVC. However, no doubting that double glazing has significant insulation and security benefits to single glazing, which is I suspect the reason a lot of people do that.
