How to set up a motion sensor to control video camera?
As per the title, need to catch a neighbours dog fouling our garden for evidence...even better if I can catch the neighbours on video leading/encouraging their dog into the garden. Negotiations with the neighbours to stop this behaviour are not possible as diplomatic relations have broken down.
How do I go about setting up a motion sensor to control my Sony TRV33E camcorder? Any recommendations as to which motion sensor to go for? How difficult is it to set up? Costs?

I don't know how much they are, but I've used these before. I don't know if it would work in the dark though.
Great thing about memocam is that it will only trigger when movement is detected, it looks like a normal PIR unit and it saves the images to a normal smart media (or similar) card.
Not on a commission BTW

Borrow a newish sony pc 109 handycam or (higher spec) they have a single frame setting which takes a picture ever few seconds and they also have infra red setting (not to strong but should be good for about 20 feet) with a 90 min tape it should run all night and then some.
make sure its plugged into the mains though with the charger/adaptor kit as the batteries wont last all night .

Thanks folks. Agree that a £300-750 dump is a tad on the expensive side but I think mattstant may be on to something - the TRV33 will do time lapse every 30 seconds for a couple of seconds and has a nightshot-mode good for about 10 meters in total darkness...as they have to cross the parking lot to get to our garden (we're in an apartment) and it has a little bit of illumination I might be able to pick them up on that.
