An Aussie friend recently sent me some pictures of "extreme" weather in Sydney. They had a heavy hailstorm which looked a bit like snow...
Hail happens often enough (and is violent enough when it happens) that anyone who can take shelter does so under bridges to prevent the "golf ball" finish (at the risk of upsetting/delaying everyone else on the road).
