Question can you trace a withheld number?

I recieved a very interesting call to my mobile tonight - the number was withheld and I didn't answer it, but the caller left a message. If I contact Orange, will they be able to tell me the number of this caller?

Hello

Not without involving the Police, and even then I'm not sure that they keep such records before the Police have been involved.

As Steve has said. If the message warrants you needing to contact the police, then Orange will release it to them.

The network operator will be able to provide it, but they probably won't release it without the Police's intervention and then it'll probably be provided to the authorities and not directly to you.

thanks for the info. The call involved an serious allegation against an employee, but it isn't enough for police involvement.

If the Police can't/won't act then you could always ask the operator yourself. If you don't try you certainly won't succeed.

You'll need to go around work tomorrow then and just say "thanks for the call last night".

Most will look at you gone out. The culprit will show him/herself.

i think I'll try both tactics, to be on the safe side. the trouble is, if the person that was accused gets to the accuser first, there won't be much of him left for me to interrogate.

ah well.

I find the best thing to do to find out who's calling with a withheld number is to answer it
