London hotels for xmas - new year?
Can anybody recommend a semi-decnet hotel in London that wont break the back. Looking for 4-5 nights sometime in teh holiday period that doesnt cost the earth??
Its for a foreign friend who is looking to do the sights, so it needs to be relativly central or near a tube.

They'll be expensive, especially that time of year, but the better hotels I know in London are the Metropolitian, Lanesborough, Mandarin Oriental, proper hotels that will give you a good time.
Sites I use are

I normally stay here. I get a good rate as we use the chain at work and have points. Over weekends and holiday periods you can get free room upgrades (suites ect).
Fantastic restatrant very friendly staff, and fantastic location tuccked down jermyn street 2 minutes walk to picadilly, the suites have good views of london and have some great photo's at dusk.
