My 'rents have just purchased a property in Spain (actually Grand Canaria - but I think it's the same).
Be Warned! The property law out there is completely different to over here.
The most wierd thing is that I might own the property (land & building) - but not the rights to "enjoy" the property IE somone else can live there & YOU CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT.
Get a spanish lawyer.

We use an online service called creditsafe (www.creditsafeuk.com) which we have to pay for but its alot cheaper than D&B. Yes looks very dodgy.
I have bought and sold in Spain, the market is very very flat at the moment great for buyers! I could write a small book on what I have learnt from the process, didnt lose out financially in fact we made but it was alot of hassle alot of grief and in the end wasnt worth it! As for buying get recommended a lawyer who speaks spanish and english (I wouldnt recommend ours, he was ok but not that good) get over there and have a *good* look around do your homework and dont rush into anything! Be prepared to pay *at least* 10% of the total purchase price in fees (ours was probably nearer 12%)
cheers

Cyprus is the place to buy..... good value for money and extremely secure... Real Estate companies have to be registered and the law system is based on the UK law... purchase costs are upto 6% (unlike 10% in Spain)...
Bulgaria.... £27,000 - 1 Bed Studio, similar build to a 2 bed apt in Spain
PM me anyone for more info
