I didnt think Full Metal Jacket was worthy of being used in the same sentence as The Deer Hunter :rasp:

Platoon all day long, followed by Tour of Duty but that's technically not a film

I can't get on with Apocalypse now

I had to watch some Vietnamese war films about the Viet Nam war when I was at university. They put a refreshingly different perspective on things!

Considering it starred Marty McFly, I have to say that Casualties of War is a pretty good flick.

Mull Fetal Wacket is the best for me - Love it when the fat one plays target practise on his boss and himself... Kubrick is a god!
Of the two picked - I went for Heerdunter - have it dvd and find it slow but moving - De Niro quality - Walken - superb!

Ive got the 2 disc dvd and watched the features earlier. Definatly my favourite film.

And as Abdabz says the acting is spot on.

Full Metal Jacket or Platoon. I did watch Hamburger Hill again the other day but it didn't do much for me, maybe it's not aged as well as the other two.

Of the two to vote on i went for Apocalypse Now

Just thought, in twenty years time will there be a load of Iraq films. the first lot will be gung ho "Rag Head" bashing fims. They will mutate into the "true horror" films.

deer hunter is boring as hell for half the film....may be great film making but hardly an evening of solid entertainment.
