Default MP3 transfer to Nokia 6230

How do I get my MP3 files from laptop to phone via Bluetooth?
Paired correctly but I must be being very thick!

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,

CC

If you open the Nokia PC Suite, there's a file transfer part.

Hello

I had to download the newest software from nokia.com otherwise the bluetooth didn't work. It looked as though it paired correctly, but none of the software was working.

It drove my completely insane for several days, and out of annoyance I deleted the version I loaded from the CD and downloaded version 6.3.14 .

Steve.

Hi all, thanks for you taking the time to help.

Have followed instructions but it keeps telling me there is insufficient space. Have got 256 MB so don't think so!
However, my software is version 4, so I may delete that as suggested and download the most recent version.

Thanks again.

I use the software that came with the Bluetooth USB adapter - far quicker and easier than the Nokia PC suite

Since replying last time...I've started using the OBEX file transfer, i think that came with the Bluetooth usb adaptor, certainly seems to be more reliable now.

Yes, you can set an MP3 as a ringtone : just navigate through the gallery to the MP3 you want, press the option button (left hand key) and set as ringtone.

You need to rename your memory card too otherwise it won't be found. Once you've done this you can then selct it as the target memory from PC suite.

Question

CC & Steve (Boxst)

I'd be interested in your opinions on the 6230. I'm about to upgrade from a 6310i and the 6230 (as well as the 6820) are on my list because:
  • they're both tri-band
  • they've both got bluetooth
  • they're both compatible with the CARK-91 convertor kit which I've got fitted in the car.
Cheers
Les

Les,

It's easy to set up the bluetooth for sending pics, videos etc....and easy to use the phone. As you've gathered I still haven't mastered the MP3 transfer but I shall! I got it as an upgrade so only paid £15 for it.....but would pay a lot more now I know how good it is. I don't use tri-band....so can't comment.

It did this with me and my 256MB Memory card.
The reason was because it sends the file to the phone then you have to transfer it to the card,
So if you don't have enough space on your phone then you have to either make some space on your phone, send a file smaller than about 8MB or use a memory card reader.

If you've got XP SP2 you dont even need the Nokia software. Windows it does it all for you, files just come through like a text message and you tell the phone where to save them.

Hello Les

I think that the 6230 is great. It has lots of features, is quite small, works well in America.

I mainly use the syncing with outlook, the radio (which is quite cool) and the mp3 player. I upgraded the MMC card to 256mb. I use it as a phone too, almost forgot that ...

Steve.

Hi Steve (Boxst) Johnny et al....I managed to download one track via Nokia software!!!!! But thereafter it said there was no more space, despite me having a named 256 MB MMC. So I now confess to being a nugget of the first degree,

To top that, I also tried to use said track (no more I love you's for anyone interested!) as ringtone. Unfortunately when I ring my own phone to check (please, no comments!) it starts and stops within about 5 seconds. If there is anyone out there, please send sensible suggestions for a suitable retirement home for me.

CC

PS Am looking for alternative employment in Norwich area......preferably not involving mobile phones!!!

Exactly my issue but Expansys have come to the rescue. Take a look. Providing your kit's a CARK-91, this'll convert it to a variety of phones including the 6230 and the 6820.

Ok....for transferring MP3 files, is a card reader best? Or the Nokia data cable?
