What would you spend it on.

I mean, yeah houses and cars but what after that ? If you type in "how to spend a million" in google, it just comes up with ****.

Oh and my assumption/questin assumes you cant bugger off to your own island for life

I'd invest 3 mil in a nicely diversified portfolio and withdraw an inflation linked 100K a year from it for ever more. I'd fritter away the rest on stupid ****e like GT3s and a new vacuum for the wife.

Err...dunno about you, but if I won £4m, the house I'd like to live in would probably cost a few million....if not £3m.....then you've got to invest the remaining £1m carefully to ensure a steady income with which to maintain/heat/run said £3m house!

£3m doesn't buy you a lot these days if you want to live in (or very close to) a major city.

deffo take care of family - and treat friends to something special that i know they would always have wanted.
i have some ideas for software products - id set up a company and make them (locked away in a room for a year kind thing, i.e. no need for income) and try to make a go of that.
id get right into track days - with nice machinery and driver training (not knowing anything mechanical at all, id use money to pay peeps to do that).

You won't get much income off a mil. Not enough to cover upkeep on a 3 mil house and some fancy cars. Then you'd be looking a job to pay for all your stuff!

I'd live somewhere a lot cheaper - with 4 mil you don't need to be in big city commuting distance with all the other morons, so your house buying money will go much further.

There's a US company 'rebuilding' old ones (very pricey. very). There's an article about them in last months Road&Track or last weeks Autoweek if you can find it online.

ok here goes...

1mill- would go on a house and cars( ferrari, scoob, evo, X5 for the school runs. and a nice new ducati.. that would do me car wise. and my dads a builder so im sure if I buy the land(250k say) he could whip up exactly what I would like for less than 500k. nothing too big just comfortable.)

500K- On family and friends(pay off close family mortgages, keep my gran in bingo money for the rest of her life, pressies for family, week in vegas with the boys etc)


500k- fun... travel I'd go to every place I've ever wanted to see in the world

500k- time to settle down now...(wedding, kids, future, etc...)

1.5 mill- invest.. dont know exactly what in but something to keep us comfortable. got a few ideas

I think just a million on a house and 250,000 for goodies (all i want is a DB9) and invest the rest. With inflation and everything else, 1m would not be enough to live off of (especially at my age - 22)... 2.75 million would give you a better outcome.

No Milo I just meant if you had 4 you probably wouldnt spend three quaters of it on a house! Don't mean "only 4" as in not a lot of money, it certainly is!

4 million eh, well Id pay the morgage off for my ma and pa, pay it off for my sister and buy a house for the rest of the immidiate family that hasnt got 1 yet nothing flash just something good in a good area (probably be splitting 1 million between them all) that leaves me with 3. well Id spend about 500k on a house (round here that gets u ALOT) as long as it has a big garage for about 4 or 5 cars. filled with a reno5 (already got that anyhow) top of the range porker, high powered RX7. a bentley and what ever the woman wants to pick. should cost much more than another million there so I have a house and my cars with another 2 mil to spend, use 1 million for living of the interest and maybe use a million at my disposal for when ever I want something

Buy some land in the country, get a house built with a big wall and big gates to keep people out.
Couple of decent cars, m3 drop top (carbon black/imola red leather), range rover (black), 7 series limo version (black), some exotics and some classics- mostly painted black.
Helicopter would be cool- but daft methinks.
Id possibly be tempted to move somewhere abroad
Other than that nothing different to normal- id still carry on working the same as i do, just with the satisfaction of knowing im not depending on various things for security.
