Had To Happen Sooner Or Later ...... Camera Van
OK I think I may have been spotted by a camera van on a bridge (Wendover bypass)
So I have a few questions,
Do the cameras front or rear facing, in other words does it take a pic of the front or rear of your car?
Are they laser or radar?
What sort of distance do they work over?
Thats it for the mo.
TIA

Ian,
If it was one of the mobile vans then the chances are that it will have been equipped with a laser camer as opposed to a radar one. It can take a speed reading from up to 1km away, and can check traffic flowing in both directions at the same time, so the picture could be either the front or the rear of the car.

Hard luck Ian. I live in Aylesbury and the camera vans are being used increasingly around the town. Not been done yet but loads of people I know have. I've started to drive like an old woman until I'm out of all the "trouble-spots"!

Why did they cut a slot wide enough for four lanes through the Chilterns and then build a 2 lane road (with a dangerous blind sweeping bend in the middle)? Personally I cut through Butlers Cross/Chequers/G. Missenden, far more fun!

It was dry and the road was clear so now i'm just waiting for my prezzi in the post.

Fingers crossed
Good luck, I went past a camera van a few weeks ago far above the speed limit on an empty dual carrageway (road visable for about a mile up a hill so I put my foot down). I was fortunate in that nothing has come through the post, I hope you have the same luck.

check traffic flowing in both directions at the same time,
i think you might find the controller as to flick a switch to monitor either oncoming traffic or traffic going away from him, as he would get different readings and wouldn't know who he aimed the device at
so the picture could be either the front or the rear of the car
If u saw the van whislt driving towards it, you have been got from the front, likewise, if you driven past the van and saw it from your rear view mirror then the pic will be from the back.
