Currently got a sony integrated solution and the DVD is packing up..3.5 years old now!

Looking for a decent system with Surround Sound and DVD as seperate units. Got about £1k to spend, looking for recommendations for sources of info/reviews etc

Get yourself a copy of "What HiFi", there's a home cinema mega-test in the new/current issue. Systems from £450 to £2500 (not inc. speakers) are reviewed.

The best thing i have experienced is the technics stereo with built in dvd and surround sound! Can pick one up from dixons for about £600.

A must have for all that need to blast their neighbours out of ear drums! Whether it be stereo/dvd/mp3 etc! So loud it makes my toilet vibrate upstairs!

here's my bob's worth; put your money into the AVR and speakers - these will not get outdated as quickly as the media player.

We've gone from vinyl to tape to CD to DVD - all need amplification and speakers.

Round the corner is blu-ray laser, which is a new DVD format, plus current war between DVD-A and SACD.

Still needs amplifier and speakers.

So, upmarket AVR / speakers; lower cost media player.
