Just reminds you of the pity state of affairs, and that the general conclusion of the average Brit with common sense is not wrong.
As a thought on the way this country is detroriating....does anyone know what the emigration statistics out of the UK are?
I tried the census site, with no success. But I'd guess the outflow is such that we won't need to bother with controlling illegal immigration and bogus asylum anymore!
Off-topic I know, but the point being more and more people have given up on this country for many reasons - with the judicial system being one of them.

You *do* realise that RWN is done by the same people who did the "Satanic Fisher Pirce Toy" gag, don't you?
Not that the story is any less accurate, just that the site as a whole shouldn't, perhaps, be taken entirely seriously...

It's alarming when faced with the evidence that the more crime you commit the less time you spend in prison.
It now behooves a criminal to tell his solicitor about every case under the sun so that he gets time knocked off his sentence. To a certain degree I can understand that this causes less hassle, is cheaper and means they can sort trhough more cases quicker, but it still seems a bit daft.

"Police have been ordered not to bother investigating crimes such as burglary, vandalism and assaults unless evidence pointing to the culprits is easily available, The Telegraph can reveal.
Under new guidelines, officers have been informed that only "serious" crimes, such as murder, rape or so-called hate crimes, should be investigated as a matter of course."
Errrr....no. All crimes are investigated. Any with insufficient evidence will probably not make it to court though.

So, when my mother rang the police to report a crime in progress and was told that they were busy and could she write them a letter that was an investigation was it? I assume if, in true Blue Peter style, she'd enclosed a stamped self addressed envelope in her letter then they would have posted her out a police officer by return?
The fact is that the police have their hands tied and are rapidly losing public support and sympathy and they need to do something about it fast. I'll give you a hint that the thing to do is not to errect more speed traps to capture the generally law abiding citizen with an investment in society. The thing to do is to devote time and resources to capturing and removing the real criminals from that society. But then, of course, the government, the EU and a wide range of PC nutters don't allow such infringements of human rights any more do they?
As others are pointing out a lot of people are looking out of the country to leave the police, magistrates and PC nutters to wallow in the mess they have created.

<pedant>hedgehog - if you're talking about the European Convention on Human Rights, that's the Council of Europe, nothing to do with the EU. </pedant>

What infrigements of the human rights act do you refer to?
What was the 'crime in progress' that she witnessed?
