I should add that I will have Gold in Normal Screen from the USA and the Gold Widescreen from HMV as well as the Silver Widescreen. Me obsessed?

I appreciate the understanding comments.

Suprabeast, in the UK both Gold (HMV exclusive) and Silver are 2.35.1 Anamorphic Widescreen. In the US, Gold is 4:3 Normal Screen and the Silver is AM 2:35:1

I do have several box sets. Got the Gold and Silver VHS, Got other incarnations of Box set on VHS plus various other Star Wars on VHS. A mate used to work at the Authoring plant for the VHS sets. He got me some from the first batch of VHS box sets that were duplicated on slow run. Superior piccy quality.

The one I really want is the Executor and the American Laser Disc versions.

Sith, I hope you weren't into Pokemon (gotta collect 'em all)

If you want, I can pick up a French language (silver) box set for you - I was in Inverness at the weekend and noticed that the UK (silver) set didn't have this "option".

silver is 2:35:1 so no difference..maybe just the bumf with it? Then again you could wait for the olive case or the blue case which is the digitally enhanced opening credits, then teh end credits are a different colour. i hear they are gonna be making Star Wars VII - so get your money ready again for the silver set - gold set - olive set - and red set...

media machine on drugs i think in this case - how many versions of star wars can you buy..LMFAO

star wars on betamax
star wars on VHS
Star Wars on VHS gold
Star Wars on VHS Gold digitally enhanced
Star Wars on Laser Disk type 1, 2, 3 who cares
Star Wars on DVD now I II IV V VI double disk set with leather posing puch...

I am waiting for LOTR extended version - now thats class...

They may have finished, but there were al least 2 of the above versions. They were 20 quid when I last looked.
