International Roaming

I live inthe UK--mobile Orange.
I am trying to contact my friend from South Africa who is on holiday in Croatia-his phone is on International Roaming.When I phone his no.is not recognised.What do I need to do?

I assume you're phoning his number with the SA country code, and not trying to phone him using the Croatia country code?
