Post Duty free Cigarettes.

Im going out to Porta Ventura in southern spain tommoz and was thinking about bringing back a few thousand ciggies, does anyone know where the best place to buy them from would be....Gatwick, Reus airport(apparently very small) or in a local spanish supermarket....we are staying on the universal studios resort so not sure if they will have the supermarkets....any advice would be very helpful

If you are in Souther Spain - Go to Gibralta, its only £5.50 for 200 Benson/Regal

and £8 for 12 year old malts.

My mother and father live in Marbella and go there alll the time and send some back to us.

I would'nt do that, cos the Customs people know what it is and put stamp duty on it.

The limit for cigs is 3200

Buy them at a local supermarket and keep the receipt (Just in case customs decide to check your luggage)

There is actually no limit on **** purchased in Spain, 3200 is just a guideline. As long as you're not a habitual smuggler you shouldn't have any problems with Customs

In terms of importing them by post, excise duty and VAT is due on them because they have not been personally imported.

Would it work out more than the cigs you buy in the UK if you buy a carton for say 20 USD and apply duty and VAT on that?

Don't bother, they're almost the same price in Canada as the UK.

Furthermore, some UK brands aren't sold here and Malboro aren't sold here because they won't do bilingual packs.

That's strange, I'm sure I saw an online cigarette shop from Canada somewhere when I looked around a little a few months ago...

That's funny about the Marlboros, I wonder how they do it in Belgium

About the same, £45-£50 depending on brand.

IIRC, Belgium doesn't have the bilingual laws that Canada has. Malboro may print their packets in French, but I think they aren't prepared to print them in English and French for the relatively small Canadian market.
