Lost MOT - replacement
Need to tax the car in the next week so go to grab my MOT certificate but it's not there! arrggh. Hunting the whole flat for it at the mo.
Anyway, should I not find it, how do I get it replaced? What's the cost? Do I go through the dvla or the garage that did the mot for a duplicate? How long will it take? Happy to SORN the car for a few weeks while it all sorts out, but would prefer not to (it's my fun westie I need my weekend fixes lol)

You should be able to get a copy from the garage that issued the MOT. They should be able to issue one while-you-wait. Most places charge £10 I think (don't quote me on that). If the garage doesn't exist anymore, speak to your local vehicle inspectorate office.

Phew, no problems there. I was almost expecting it to be a £40 job via the dvla taking weeks on end of red tape and suchlike.
I assume the garage 'have' to do this by law if requested?

I think so, yeah, but they probably wont be too chuffed if you dont know the exact date and they have to wade through a months worth of MOT receipts to find your details.
This obviously isnt a problem if they keep computerised records, but my local place keep their records in a series of cardboard boxes on the roof of the office.
lol.

Happen to have an MOT Cert' on my desk. Yep as stated above just go back to garage with Certificate Serial Number (yep I know you didn't put that in your diary )or reg number and approx date. You will have to pay a fee but doesn't say how much. TIP. Look through old garage bills and look for MOT Cert' stapled to papers at back
