Default Rear-Projection TV's

Been thinkin about getting one, im after big screen size thats gonna be a good all-rounder fro tv, dvd's and x-box gaming (apparently its not advisable to play games on Plasma's cos a prolonged image can burn into the screen, or something like that). Also, having a very slim tv is not a great priority, and not overly keen on a standard wide-screen tv. My budget is upto £1000.

Had a quick look on a site i foung www.avforums.co.uk but they dont seem to mention rear-projection at all.

Anyone got one?

Icy.

I got a Samsung 42" rear projection. You get the same problems with these as a Plasma. Not advisable to play any games console on them for fear of screen burn..I should know as we had to make a claim under warranty and after alot, and i mean alot, of argueing with them, they finally repaired the TV at a cost of £800 to them!!! They now have it written into their warranties for plasma's and RP's that screen burn is not covered by the warranty.

Apart from that, the TV feckin' great!!

Just something to think about.......

should be plenty of mention of rear-proj on avforums as they have a sub-forum entitled "Televisions - direct view and rear projection CRT".

irrespective, for what u want i would suggest a 36in standard wide-screen such as the toshiba 36zd26 (which should be close to your budget iirc). this will give a much nicer picutre than a rear proj and you'll be able to play x-box all day long if u want without fear of wrecking the thing
