armed forces cut backs
I remember seeing on the news about all the army, navy and RAF cuts they are making. Then a couple of days after that I was at the Sunderland air show, the majority of tents there were recruitment tents for the armed forces. Then yesterday when I was in town there was army peeps all over the place recruiting again.
If they are laying so many people off why are they still recruiting surely it would be easier and cheaper to transfer people from the regiments they are getting rid off to ones theya re keeping. After all they already have training and experience it would be a lot better than training new people which would waste more money.

A lot of the reduction in numbers will come from back office staff and natural wastage. There are also an increasing amount of people becoming disenchanted with life in the Armed Forces who have to be replaced and whilst it probably would be cheaper to try to keep existing staff it is not always possible.
