You know when you feel totally bemused as to why a set of people have an opinion totally alien to your own? Like that different it leaves you feeling genuinely unable to empathize and put yourself in their shoes?
Thats how I feel about the general public, in their masses, voting for Nadia to win Big Brother. My feelings have nothing to do with Nadia being a transsexual. It's the fact that he is a self centered 'me me me' pig of the worst order.
Thats something we should aspire too? Treat as a winning formula?
I'm not losing sleep over it, but it has left me a little perplexed. I feel '???'
I just don't get it.

shes going to win because the avarge voter is a teenage girl. as most teenage girl thinks their life is falling apart (spots, boyfriends, etc, etc) they love to see a woman who has come thorugh trials and changes and made it out ok.

they also feel sorry for her because ppl like dan call her a "bloke"

personaly i couldnt give a toss! dan can have her sent back to portugal for all i care but there are plenty who think calling someone who has undergone a sex change a "bloke" pretty offensive. they would argue that you wouldnt attack a gay person for the choices they make that are outside the "norm" and you wouldnt laugh a a bald chemotherpy victim because of the results of their treatment.

I think the bigger picture here is that *if* Nadia wins - will she be marketable?

Craig got on the telly, nice amaible bloke, did DIY stuff for a while
Brian got a slot as a childrens TV presenter and did well
Kate did great on Rise
Cameron (who? I hear you ask) slipped back to obscurity and is easily the least effective winner. No one really remembers much about the last one.

So, with that in mind, would it make commercial sence for Nadia to win?

Leaving aside whatever prejudices and hang ups are out there, she is not likely to have much commercial mileage in her.

Can't see Endemol (or whoever) wanting another winner that slips into obscurity

My vote goes to Jay and he should have a good chance bearing in mind people voting for him would probably be the ahmed, victor and maybe even stu fans. as said might be worth a 5er (radio 1 did a poll of their own on monday and Jay come oout above nadia)

The reason that I called him a bloke is that when he used to work in Alders in Woking he could pee standing up, i.e. he had tackle and that makes him a bloke in my mind.

OK so further surgery has removed that issue but it's still hard to get your head round.

Some characters I hate, but understand why others like them.. but in this case, she's just annoying in the extreme. Annoying squarky lispy voice, a complete cow when she's not getting her nicotine fix.. and generally unpleasant.

Yeah, hadn't thought of it from that angle. They need a winner with the most colour, controversy and personality. The content of each of those elements doesn't matter. Maybe I've been thinking about the message it sends out about the general public in a too simplistic manner. It runs far deeper than that and it's a little sad as well.

The majority of England seem to think she is a god. Most Scots hate her as she and Jay are arch-enemies and we stick up for our own!

I've also heard that Nicotinel (sp) have said that they want her as the face of their product if she can stop smoking.
They are willing to make her very rich if she quits and accredits it to their product.
