Sat Nav, GPS Camera and Re route
A colleague wants a unit that will give him speed camera warnings, sat nav and re route in the event of roadworks, jams etc. The obvious one is Smartnav with the optional speed camera warning. Any others out there?

Tom Tom go has just announced an update to the software on August 12th which will support custom points of interest, with visual and audible warning, and will support the www.pocketgpsworld.co.uk 'safety' camera database.
About £400-450 and is a self contained unit - even battery powered so you don't need a cable if you don't want one.
Otherwise they could look at a PDA with Tom Tom 3 installed. I bought an IPAQ4150 with Tom Tom 3, memory card for maps, GPS hardware and powered mount for about the same (£400-450)
That does the same but also has all the PDA functionality like wifi internet access for email/web etc, or viewing movies from a memory card.

And you can buy the traffic subscription for TomTom for up to date traffic etc, it does require a GRPS enabled phone, preferably with a bluetooth PDA and Phone

There is also a very handy postcode application if you go the PDA route which allows for navigation via the full 7-digit postcode. Standard navigation software (all of it) only searches on 5-digits due to the licensing costs from the post office.

I have the Medion Sat Nav bundle which cost £280 plus £20 for the speed camera software. I have yet to find a fault I have certainly covered a fair few miles since purchasing it.
