One Day Contact Lenses
Hello
I wear glasses and I'm getting a bit fed up with it. So I wouldn't mind trying contact lenses. However, I wouldn't want to wear them all the time. Just a few times a week probably.
Is that okay? If I buy a months supply of lenses, and use them over 3 months do they go "off"? Where is the cheapest place to buy them from?
Steve.

I have daily ones, and they are dated until 2008! So can't see a problem! I get them from the local opticianse, as he is a contact lens specialist (quite highly regarded), and have to have a Contact lens eye test once a year.

I had these recently, worked out about £40 for 30 pairs.
The only problem with these is that if you have something a bit special, like a larger than average stigmatism, you will find it hard to get exact prescriptions. The contacts I have are too weak in one eye and too strong in the other, this was as close as they could get.
Not bad for playing football in, I wont be getting any more.

I only use 1 (as my other eye is practically blind) i think I pay about £27 per 30 ( I think they are no cheaper for just 1 set!) I used to wear them everyday, and had eyecare thrown in for free, but I wear my glasses more now (leaving contacts in for too many hours does not feel to good!) I believe that Ciba Focus dailys and acuvue are the two "main" brands (i get on better with cibas)

I have recently started wearing contacts.
took a while to get used to but im happy with them now.
Because of my job and body clock (tendancy to nod off in the afternoons)- i needed ones i can sleep in.
I wear lenses from D&A called night & day. You can wear them for up to a month, erm, night & day, as the name suggests. Sleeping in them is fine- very impressive. same price as a months supply of the one days contacts.
I dont wear them every day either- you store them in the case and fluid.
Horses for courses.
I found the made my eyes sore. Harder to put in too i found as they were very thin but thats probably just me being a freak

No - actually the 24 lenses are very thin and flexable.

The risks of contact lenses are high - before making plans make sure you've been properly assessed for wearing them by a specialist optician, AND you had a go at wearing them. Ther eis no reason why you can't wear them just on the odd day or two (this is pretty common) but ONLY if they don't cause problems. So try them out first. Make sure the optician understands what your planned regime is.
