Me and my wife nearly moved out to Dubai last year. My wife is a dentist could get work easily. I am in the same line of work as you, Over in Dubai they employ Indians who are great programers/developers and work for around 4K a year. My sister is just back from working out in Dubai for a year and had a great time, we went out to vistit and had a fab time.

I presume you are aware of the obvious things like the fact that it's fecking hot and sandy...

I personally found the Middle Eastern weather unbearable. I got sick of everything being sandy pretty darn quickly also. You are also in for a massive - and I mean massive - culture shock. At least the UAE is the most tolerant of the Arab nations.

There is A/C everywhere so the heat is not as big a problem as you might think. Plus the extreme heat is only during the summer months. The cost of living is cheap, especially eating out, but booze is about what you'd pay here. The old part of Dubai is great, the new is very luxurious but becomes boring. Great place to visit but unless you just want a change or like all year sun I think you'd get bored quite quickly.

One reason not to go is that Jim Davidson recently said he was going to move out there.
